RCRC Launches “Bridges of Generations” Initiative to Strengthen Communication and Pass On Cultural Heritage
The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) has launched a distinctive community initiative titled “Bridges of Generations” (Jusoor Al-Ajyal), which aims to strengthen human and knowledge-based communication between senior citizens and younger generations, pass on expertise and life experiences, and reinforce the values of community heritage and national identity. Street Food, in the historic Qasr Al-Hukm District, is hosting the initiative’s activities on October 8 and 9, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., under the supervision and organization of RCRC, in an integrated partnership with the Family Affairs Council, Kebar Association, Kayan Association for Orphans, and Maak Event Management, and with the active voluntary participation of RCRC employees.
The initiative offers its visitors a live, interactive experience that brings senior citizens and children together along an integrated and interconnected route. It starts at the interactive majlis sessions, which introduce the etiquette of hospitality and the values of social conduct, and recall folk proverbs and riddles. Children then move to a dedicated games area to play traditional games in a shared atmosphere, followed by an exploratory tour of the Haraj area to learn about antiques and link the past with the present, before reaching the Street Food stations to discover the art of preparing Saudi coffee and taste traditional dishes.
The initiative is part of RCRC’s efforts to make use of open spaces and vibrant sites in the capital, and to revive the city’s social memory and intangible heritage, while strengthening institutional belonging and a culture of volunteering. The results of the current phase will be studied in preparation for expanding the initiative in the future to cover various neighborhoods across Riyadh, and to draw on it during upcoming national occasions.
