RCRC Starts Construction of a Tunnel and Four Flyovers at the Al Thumamah–Othman Bin Affan Intersection as Part of the Al Thumamah Road Development Project (Central Section)
The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) has announced the start of construction on a new tunnel and flyover at the intersection of Al Thumamah Road and Othman Bin Affan Road. The project comprises an 850-meter tunnel along Al Thumamah Road and four flyovers with a total length of approximately 2,000 meters. Works are set to commence on Wednesday, April 16, 2026. The project is part of Riyadh Main and Ring Road Axes Development Program, and aims to ease traffic movement and strengthen connectivity along two of Riyadh’s major arterial corridors.

RCRC stated that these projects represent a continuation of its ongoing efforts to modernize infrastructure and strengthen the efficiency and sustainability of the road network in line with Riyadh’s accelerating urban expansion. In coordination with the relevant authorities, an integrated traffic management plan has been implemented to manage traffic diversions during the construction phase. Digital mapping systems and navigation applications have also been updated to help ensure seamless traffic flow. Moreover, a dedicated page has been launched on the RCRC’s official website to provide real-time updates and road information related to the project.
