RCRC Launches Tuwaiq Sculpture 2026 Exhibition

The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC), through its Riyadh Art program, has inaugurated the Tuwaiq Sculpture 2026 Exhibition along Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Street (Tahlia), transforming one of Riyadh’s most prominent thoroughfares into an open-air cultural destination. Open to visitors from February 9 to 22, the exhibition brings together 25 newly commissioned sculptures that reflect the theme “Traces of What Will Be,” examining the evolving relationship between art, place, and urban transformation.

The works were developed during an on-site production phase held between January 10 and February 5, where participating artists from 18 countries created their sculptures using local stone and recycled metals. This live process invited the public to engage directly with the artists and observe the evolution of each piece from concept to completion.

Selected for its legacy as a center of creativity and renewal, Tahlia Street provides a contextual backdrop that reinforces the exhibition’s focus on change and continuity within the urban environment. Guided by an international panel of experts, the exhibition extends beyond display to include workshops and panel discussions, positioning it as a platform for dialogue and community interaction. All artworks presented in the 2026 edition will become part of Riyadh Art’s permanent collection. Since its establishment in 2019, the program has welcomed more than 170 artists and installed over 60 sculptures across the city, underscoring its role in embedding contemporary art within Riyadh’s urban fabric.
