Green Riyadh Reaches 48% Completion on Al-Urubah Park Project
Green Riyadh Program has announced that the Al-Urubah Park project has reached 48% completion. The park stands as a major destination within the Program, overseen by the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC), and its development continues to advance the city’s broader urban transformation efforts toward a more sustainable environment.
Spanning 754,000 square meters at the intersection of Prince Turki bin Abdulaziz Al-Awwal Road and Al-Urubah Road, the project includes the planting of more than 600,000 trees and shrubs, covering approximately 65% of the total area. The design also incorporates permanent water features, seamlessly integrated with Laysen Valley as it flows through the park.
Al-Urubah Park will offer a wide range of facilities, including 14 kilometers of walking trails, green terraces, open plazas, and outdoor event theaters, alongside dedicated sports amenities.
The project falls under the broader Green Riyadh Program, an initiative actively expanding afforestation and green space across the capital. The program is advancing this vision through 1,350 kilometers of irrigation networks and the annual production of 3 million trees, shrubs, and groundcovers via Green Riyadh nurseries, which helps increase vegetation cover, lower temperatures, improve air quality, and mitigate the effects of pollution and dust.
