A delegation from Jeddah Metro has finished a two-day visit to King Abdulaziz Project for Riyadh Public Transport to explore its components and get an idea about its benefits to the city and its residents.

During the visit, the delegation met with Riyadh Metro project manager, Engr. ‎Walid Al-Ekrish, who shed light on the project, which will comprehensively change the lifestyle in the city of Riyadh by providing safe, sustainable and modern transportation services to the residents and visitors of Riyadh.

The delegation was also briefed on the strategy and methodology, the High Commission has adopted in the launch of the project’s ongoing and future phases, the key challenges faced by the project, and the mechanism used for coordination among the stakeholders in the city, as well as the technical specifications of the project, and its safety and security standards.

The delegation also listened to a presentation on the plan for recruitment and training of the national cadres within the project.

The delegation concluded the visit by touring the Third, Fourth, and Sixth Metro Lines, and the a number of tunnel boring machines (TBMs) working on the project, whose length ranges from 90 to 120 meters, with each TBM weighing approximately 2,000 tons, ‎and ‎digging away about 50 truckloads of earth daily.
