RCRC Launches Construction of Najm Al-Din Al-Ayoubi Interchange Bridges as Part of Jeddah Road Development Project
The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) has commenced construction of the Najm Al-Din Al-Ayoubi Interchange bridges as part of the initial phase of the Jeddah Road Development Project. The works include the construction of two main bridges serving traffic in both directions, in addition to two U-turn bridges, enhancing traffic flow and improving connectivity between the city’s major transport corridors.
The 29-kilometre Jeddah Road Development Project includes the construction of 14 bridges and the expansion of the road to five main lanes in each direction, increasing its capacity to more than 350,000 vehicles per day. The project also includes pedestrian bridges to enhance road safety.
To support the construction works, RCRC has implemented a comprehensive traffic management plan in coordination with the relevant authorities. Effective from 2 August 2026, the first phase of a temporary traffic diversion will involve closing the westbound ramp from Jeddah Road leading to the Najm Al-Din Al-Ayoubi Interchange and redirecting traffic to local roads north of Jeddah Road. Four lanes in each direction will remain open along the diversion route to ensure the continued flow of traffic.
