RCRC Launches New Construction Package for Taif Road Development, Including Bridge at Taibah Street Intersection

As part of the ongoing Taif Road Development Project, the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) has launched a new package of construction works along this transport corridor. The works include the construction of a 311-metre-long, 36-metre-wide bridge at the Taif Road and Taibah Street intersection, extending from the Taif Road–Najd Street intersection in the west to the Western Ring Road in the east. The project will improve traffic flow while delivering a range of engineering enhancements, including modern pedestrian bridges that provide safer crossing points and enhance road user safety.

This phase will improve traffic efficiency and shorten journey times by increasing the corridor’s capacity to approximately 200,000 vehicles per day. The upgraded corridor will provide four main lanes in each direction along its 15-kilometre length, enabling it to accommodate future traffic demand more effectively.

As construction gets underway, RCRC has put in place a comprehensive traffic management plan, in coordination with the relevant authorities, to keep traffic moving smoothly throughout the construction period. The plan includes a temporary three-lane diversion in each direction at the Taif Road and Taibah Street intersection, which will take effect on 31 July 2026.

At the same time, RCRC is updating digital platforms and applications to provide motorists with regular and real-time information on the traffic diversions, helping them plan their journeys and navigate alternative routes with ease.
