RCRC Successfully Completes Precision Bridge Lift as Part of KAFD Road Network Expansion
In a major milestone for the development of the road network surrounding the King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD), the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) has successfully completed the precision lifting and installation of two bridge structures. The project has now exceeded 35% completion, with the operation carried out using specialized heavy-lift cranes and advanced equipment, marking a key phase in the ongoing enhancement of one of North Riyadh’s most critical arterial hubs.
The lifting operation was executed under a comprehensive operational and traffic management plan designed to maintain smooth traffic flow and ensure public safety. The successful execution of this milestone was made possible through close coordination between engineering, operations, and traffic management teams, in full compliance with the highest international safety standards and technical protocols throughout all phases of implementation.
Spanning more than 20 kilometers, the project features the development of three major intersections and 19 bridges to improve traffic flow and enhance access to the KAFD. The project also reinforces connectivity between key corridors across North Riyadh, supporting the area’s rapid urban and economic growth.
This project represents a key component of the second phase of the “Main and Ring Road Axes Development Program,” which aims to upgrade more than 500 kilometers of Riyadh’s road infrastructure. Through the integration of new routes and the expansion of existing corridors, the program supports Quality of Life goals and further strengthens Riyadh’s position as a globally connected, future-ready capital city.
