RCRC showcases Saudi bid to host Riyadh Expo 2030 during High-Level Political Forum 2023 in New York
The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) showcased Saudi Arabia’s bid to host the World Expo 2030 during the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) 2023 held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
The forum was held under the theme ‘Accelerating the recovery from the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) and the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at all levels.’ RCRC, which is steering the Kingdom’s bid to host Riyadh Expo in 2030, was among several Saudi government agencies participating in the forum.
During the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) 2023, Eng. Abdulaziz Alghannam, Director General of Riyadh Expo 2030, highlighted the role of World Expo 2030 in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and reiterated the Kingdom’s commitment to achieving them in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
The results of the New York forum will be reviewed with the members of the Bureau International des Expositions, the intergovernmental organization overseeing the World Expo exhibitions, at its 173rd General Assembly meeting in November of this year in Paris.
The HLPF 2023 was held from July 10 to 19 under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), to consolidate efforts for governments adopting joint initiatives and statements.
In this year’s edition, the forum aims to achieve a set of objectives, including clean water and sanitation, affordable and clean energy, industry, innovation and infrastructure, sustainable cities and communities, and partnerships to achieve the goals.
The Kingdom has announced to host the most impactful World Expo ever in 2030 in Riyadh, and to provide construction and operational support for the pavilions of the developing countries, so that they can showcase their heritage and culture during the Expo.
His Excellency Faisal bin Fadel Al-Ibrahim, Minister of Economy and Planning, led the Kingdom’s delegation to the forum, which saw the participation of 22 public, private, and non-profit sector organizations.
