RCRC Organizes Scientific Program Featuring Ricardo Hausmann on Economic Diversification and Urban Policy Development
The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) hosted Professor Ricardo Hausmann, a globally renowned economist and Founder and Director of Harvard University’s Growth Lab. The visit took place as part of a scientific program aimed at strengthening collaboration between RCRC and the University on economic diversification and policy development for developing cities, while supporting efforts to build effective research partnerships with leading international academic institutions.

The program featured Professor Hausmann’s participation in an internal seminar organized by the City Excellence Sector, titled “Economic Diversification Strategies for Developing Cities.” The session showcased global best practices in diversifying urban economic structures and highlighted the importance of knowledge and economic analysis in informing decision-making and strengthening cities’ capacity to achieve long-term growth. Professor Hausmann also took part in an in-depth meeting with senior government leaders to discuss “Assessing the Performance of Economic Diversification in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.” The discussion examined key challenges and opportunities in accelerating diversification efforts, and explored ways to enhance the effectiveness of economic policies and direct investment toward high-potential sectors, in support of Saudi Vision 2030 growth goals.
