On November 20, 2018, HRH Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdul Aziz, chairman of the Riyadh Development Authority (RDA) chaired RDA’s first meeting of 1440H.

HE CEO of Riyadh Development Authority, Engr. Tariq bin Abdulaziz Al-Faris, referred that the meeting approved the results of the study prepared by a joint team from the Riyadh Development Authority, the Ministry of Housing and the Riyadh Municipality to introduce better housing solutions for the eligible residents of the city. The study recommendations included:

  • Rehabilitation of residential neighborhoods after clearout of the infringing businesses and activities
  • Renovation of the areas with urban problems
  • Utilization of the sites allocated for housing programs within the Downtown Riyadh Development Project
  • Rehabilitation of the furnished apartments into residential units

Addoho Neighborhood Development Project ‏

The meeting reviewed the progress achieved in the Addoho Neighborhood Development Project, which aims to develop the neighborhood, preserve its architectural and urban identity, and rehabilitate its ancient buildings to host a number of facilities including a 42-unit traditional hotel, 7 cafes, 195 shops, a visitor center and 3 cultural exhibitions.

A book complex in Qasr Al-Hukm Palace Area

The meeting was also briefed on the progress achieved thus far in the book complex project east of the Al-Adl Square, the Qasr al-Hukm area. The project is currently 90% complete, and it includes 14 library sites, two cafes, in addition to seating and reading areas.

King Abdulaziz Project for Riyadh Public Transport

The meeting received an update on the progress of King Abdul Aziz Project for Public ‎Transport in Riyadh, whose works are currently underway at over 250 locations for the metro project, and more than 650 locations for the bus network across the city.

Updating the base map of Wadi Hanifa Valley

The meeting approved the updated base map of Wadi Hanifa Valley, and also approved a project for updating the “Riyadh Environmental Database”.

Similarly, the meeting passed amendments to the boundaries of some of the Wadi Al-Sali tributary valleys based on the results of the related survey works.

Expansion of Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Humanitarian City

The meeting consented a request by Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Humanitarian City for additional medical and residential buildings/facilities to raise its capacity from 511 to 622 beds.
