RCRC Introduces Flexible Working Hours Initiative Across Six Key Business Hubs in Riyadh
The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC), in partnership with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MHRSD), has officially rolled out a new flexible working hours initiative across six of the capital’s key business hubs. Effective June 2, 2026, this initiative serves as a key component of a city-wide strategy to optimize urban mobility and ease peak-hour congestion, ensuring smoother daily commutes and an elevated quality of life for all who live and work in the city.
Involving over 50 entities across six key hubs – KAFD, Digital City, Diplomatic Quarter, Laysen Valley, Granada Business, and ROSHN Front – the initiative extends the flexible working window to four hours. This distribution of arrival and departure times significantly eases peak-hour traffic congestion.
By offering employees enhanced flexibility in structuring their work schedules, the initiative is expected to promote more positive work experience while optimizing urban mobility and reinforcing ongoing efforts towards a sustainable city.
As a central element of RCRC’s broader strategy to advance mobility across the capital, the initiative aligns with ongoing infrastructure expansions, public transit enhancements, and advanced traffic management to accommodate the city’s rapid growth.
While the flexible hours framework covers fixed-schedule administrative positions, it excludes sectors requiring continuous operations and direct public service, such as healthcare, education, and field-based roles.
