RCRC Preserves Three Heritage Trees Within the Second Southern Ring Road Development Project
The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) has preserved three heritage trees as part of the Second Southern Ring Road Development Project, underscoring its commitment to delivering major infrastructure projects while safeguarding environmentally significant natural assets.
The preservation process involved specialized technical and engineering solutions designed to safeguard the trees throughout all phases of the project. Comprehensive protection, maintenance, and continuous field monitoring measures were also put in place to ensure their continued care during construction.
Some of these trees are more than 100 years old and hold notable environmental and spatial value within their natural setting. Through this initiative, RCRC affirms that Riyadh’s urban development projects extend beyond infrastructure upgrades and mobility improvements to embrace responsible development practices that give due consideration to the environmental dimension. This approach supports a balanced relationship between the demands of rapid urban growth and the long-term sustainability of the city’s natural landscape.
